Cal Terry - 2014
For nearly a quarter century Cal has been a tireless promoter, participant and leader in IPSSA. Cal joined IPSSA in 1990 and found that networking with other pool professionals increased his knowledge of pool chemistry and his confidence as a businessman.
He came into the profession in the late 1970's, when he was asked by a friend to do some pools while the friend went on a vacation. The friend then decided to move out of state, so Cal continued cleaning pools for him as well as another man. When that man cut back his work to retire, Cal bought his route and the Cal Terry Pool Service business was formed.
Cal has served as treasurer, vice president and president for the Westside chapter as well as chair and president of the Western Pool and Spa Show. He is a tireless recruiter for IPSSA bringing in almost half of the 90 member chapter.
He has always been a supporter of pool safety keeping his chapter informed of new tools and techniques for safety. Cal also keeps the chapter up to date on state legislation regarding the pool industry and has always made sure the chapter donates to SPEC.
He enthusiastically participates in car shows to help product fairs, supply shows and various causes, including his friend and fellow IPSSA members car show at Shepard of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch that raises funds for mission projects, such as a school for deaf children in Mexico.
Cal is also a supporter of the table top product fair and even stepped in and bought, cooked and served all the food for the event when the catering was cancelled to save money.
Cal Terry has always been an IPSSA guy, through and through. A product of the Army National guard, Cal is described as a sturdy, good man-a man of discipline, humble service, of thoughtful consideration, of selfless service.
